This final artwork is dedicated to my grandfather who has recently lost his battle with cancer this year. He has been a great inspiration for me as well as one of my biggest supporters when I wanted to go and study education as he was a teacher as well.
For this artwork, I did not have a plan. I let my emotions pour out and I created this artwork for my grandfather. There was no planning or thought and therefore it is a representation of my raw emotions on that day.
This is a black ink drawing on a medicine leaflet paper and a page out of one of my grandfather's books. The medicine leaflet that I used is one of my anxiety medications. I decided to use this paper because at that moment I had a lot of anxieties about what to do for the funeral and what life was going to be like looking forward. When I went to my grandmother she dropped one of the books and this piece of paper fell out. I decided that this was a great way to incorporate something of my grandfather in the actual artwork.
This artwork is titled "John Andries Botha". That is his full name.
