Final Artwork 4 - Embroidery

For my final artwork in this body of work I have decided to create three embroidery pieces.

The material that I used in these artwork were from an old curtain of my mother than had water stains on it. This is a very sturdy material so it was perfect for my embroidery ideas.

Since the material already has water stains on it I decided to use tea to create even more patterns in the background. I used a variety of flower motifs and patterns. I very quickly realized that the material was very absorbent and I could not create very fine details. I then opted for more bulky patterns that will be juxtaposed by the fine details in the embroidery itself.

The embroidery hoops were a gift from my boyfriends grandmother that she had gifted me in the beginning of the pandemic. I had expressed to her my interest in starting embroidery and she gave me a lot of her materials to use since she no longer embryoids due to old age. These hoops are very close to my heart and brings in family ties into this artwork as with all of the previous ones.
